The installation If It were always like this presented at the 26th São Paulo Biennial brings an unusual pers-pective of the unique Olinda Carnival.
In a room lit by tinker of lamps it is possible to see a flo-or covered with glitter. Four screens feature four distinct carnivals’ perspectives. The spectator is confronted in these canvases by abstract images, portraits of some revelers, moments of genuine joy during the celebra-tions and also a solemn dance of a drunk old man.
